Students’ Spelling Errors In Writing: An Analysis Study Of Second Year Junior High School Students In Belitang

The aims of this research is to identify, classify, and describe the spelling errors produced by second year junior high school students in Belitang. It employs qualitative design with content on the spelling error in their writing. The participants of this study ares the second year students of a junior High School in Belitang, consist of 13 students. For the collecting data, the researcher chose the instrument of observation, Interview, and documentation because, with these, the researcher could conduct the data clearly and also with documentation of students’ written tasks, students could produce their own word and spell freely.The result of this study shows that there are three type of spelling errors. They are error in addition word, changing y preceded by a consonant into i, omitting silent e, dropping the final consonant. While the dominant type spelling error was error in addition.
